The word mobile phone has been replaced by the word smart phone, of late, and it seems that only two manufacturers out there are actually proving their metal, the first one being Apple, the pioneer, and the second being Samsung, the undoubted market leader. These smart phone manufacturers are selling the highest number of handsets across the globe, while targeting every category of customers existing in the market.
Substantiating the above statement, an esteemed organization has conducted a research which says that the above-mentioned two companies were responsible for selling 95% of smart phones in the fourth quarter.
Even though Samsung Phones have targeted every category of audience and has proved its potentiality, Apple has come out as a clear winner in the race, most probably because of its iOS and the popularity.
In any business, unless you make profits, being a market leader, an innovator or a pioneer doesn’t really help and sadly, HTC phones got hit by this. They had to rethink completely on their market go to plan and approach towards their customers in the middle of the race of becoming the market leader.
As they say, some one’s lost opportunity becomes profit for the other, the same happened with Nokia, BlackBerry and HTC. Their lost opportunity became an opportunity for the players like Apple and Samsung, who ended up making huge profits.
As said earlier, Apple’s iPhones have their own target audience and popularity of iOS is growing at the rate of knots across the globes. In UK, iPhone 4S deals and iPhone 4S contract are the buzz words for every customer who is thinking of owning this handset from Apple via contract. Not to forget the fact that Apple’s iPhone 5 is the much awaited handset of 2012.
No other manufacturer was able to make the most of Android OS but Samsung could, as is evident by its Galaxy series which was no less than a blockbuster hit. The series included classic handsets like Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Nexus, Ace and Galaxy Y, Mini, S advance and few more to name.
When you talk about UK Galaxy S2 deals, Galaxy note on contract were the hit ones in the high end category of handsets and Galaxy Y deals and Galaxy Nexus on contract and few other sets are still going strong in the low end category of handsets.
And now the war is open as everyone is expecting these two giants to battle it out for the number one slot, as Apple is ready with its iPhone 5 and Samsung is gearing up with its high end Galaxy S3. So let us wait and watch to see who becomes number one, as the customers would be best judge for this contest beginning very shortly.
